About ESPA Enviromental Policy

Enviromental Policy

The European Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiology (ESPA), believes that a successful future for ESPA´s activities and its members in the long term depends on the sustainability of the environment, communities and economies in which we operate.

As a responsible professional society, we bear the responsibility to consider the impacts of our actions and how they affect the environment both directly in terms of how we organize annual meetings, board meetings and educational activities and indirectly through other services offered to our members.

We are committed to minimizing the impact of our operations on the environment by integrating environmental considerations into all our business activities.

Scope

The requirements of this policy apply to all entities of ESPA.

Although this policy applies to all entities and members, the primary audience for this policy is those responsible for its implementation, namely the ESPA Executive Board.

Commitment from ESPA

We want our meetings, educational activities and other services to members to be part of a sustainable society. We are committed to:

  1. Environmental Commitments
    • ESPA will protect the environment, including preventing pollution, though responsible management of our operations;
    • will give appropriate weight to this environmental policy when making future planning and investment decisions
    • will reduce resource consumption, waste and pollution in our operations
    • will strive to enable and facilitate travelling by transport modes with minimum carbon dioxide emissions such as railway, by choosing locations for scientific meetings and board meetings that are easily accessible with such transport modes.
    • will actively develop Webinars and other web-based educational activities as well as offering technical solutions to facilitate smooth virtual participation of overseas lecturers at the annual scientific meetings.
  2. Compliance
    • ESPA will comply with, or exceed, our environmental obligations, including taking a proactive approach regarding environmental legislation that affects our activities.
  3. Targets
    The executive board is responsible for setting targets and objectives to achieve continual improvement and a sustainable development
  4. Audit
    The executive board is responsible for auditing its activities in terms of compliance to this environmental policy.
