Dear Colleagues,

What are your criteria to define difficult tracheal intubation in children?

Direct laryngoscopy view, intubation attempts, and using alternative airway devices have historically been the major components used to define a difficult tracheal intubation in children. However, the increasing availability and growing use of video laryngoscopy (VL) in routine practice may have altered the interpretation of difficult intubation among anesthesiologists, currently no consensus exists among pediatric anesthesiologists regarding what constitutes a difficult tracheal intubation.

This survey explores the criteria to define difficult intubation in children in the era of VL and current practice patterns of use of VL by anesthesia providers.  The findings will enable us to understand how tracheal intubation techniques have recently evolved and provide information vital to the development of future guidelines for difficult airway management in children, advancing training, and ultimately improving patient safety.

The survey is anonymous, mobile friendly, and takes < 5 minutes to complete.
