5. Sedation for paediatric Anaesthesiologist

Outline Program:
From the APRICOT study, we notice that 6.3 % of anaesthesia activities concerned sedation. In my hospital, where a separate sedation team led by anaesthesiologists exists, it reaches even 20 %.

• Simulation workshops
• Lengthy but not painful procedures: that requires complete immobility of child e.g. MRI radiotherapy, nuclear scans, hearing test, eye examination ( ERG, VEP,…),…
• Painful ( short or long) procedures where immobility and analgesics are necessary e.g. Lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspiration,…
• Procedures during which the integrity of airway patency is more likely to become an issue e.g. endoscopy, …
