The European Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiology is proud to announce that InPlane, one of the ESPA Collaborative Projects, has been awarded the Mal Morgan Educator of the Year Award at the Scientific Winter Symposium of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, held on 15 January 2026, in London.

The award was warmly received by the InPlane Group and recognises outstanding leadership in education, innovation, and the advancement of anaesthesia training. ESPA was present at the award ceremony, underscoring the society’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance education and professional development in paediatric anaesthesia. Within the InPlane project, ESPA’s involvement is led by Nadia Najafi, ESPA Executive Board representative, reflecting the society’s active engagement in this collaborative initiative.

The Mal Morgan Educator of the Year Award, named after Dr. Maldwyn (Mal) Morgan, former President of the Association of Anaesthetists (1998–2000), honours exceptional contributions to education and training, research, and public education in anaesthesia. It is presented to anaesthetists who demonstrate a significant impact on improving education at a regional or national level.

This recognition highlights the educational impact of the InPlane project and its contribution to improving training and knowledge within the anaesthesia community.
