The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) is committed to fostering global collaboration and advancing anesthesiology research through equitable opportunities. On behalf of IARS, we are pleased to invite you to participate in three impactful initiatives if you are based in low-, lower-middle-, and upper-middle-income countries. These programs are designed to support academic growth, provide international exposure, and amplify diverse voices in the field of anesthesiology.

1. Global Scholars Award
 
Two-year research funding | Up to $20,000 | Exclusively for LMICs

This prestigious award empowers early-career anesthesia providers in low- and lower-middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) to pursue a global mentored academic research initiative and develop their leadership potential. The Global Scholar Award will play a crucial role in elevating diverse, international voices in global research.
 
Funding: up to $20,000 USD over two years
Eligibility: Early career/young investigator/junior faculty anesthesia professionals conducting research in anesthesiology or perioperative medicine
Application Process: Two-step – Letter of Intent (LOI) → Full Proposal (by invitation)
LOI Deadline: September 30, 2025
Must be an IARS member (discounted membership options available for individuals in low- and lower-middle- countries (LMIC))

2. International Outreach Travel Grant
 
Travel Support | $1,000–$5,000 USD | Open to Applicants from LMIC & Upper-Middle-Income Countries (UMIC)

Encourage your members to share their research at the 2026 Annual Meeting, presented by IARS and the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA), and apply for a travel grant to attend in person, May 1-3, 2026, in Montreal, Canada.
 
Eligibility: Early- to mid-career investigators, in-training researchers from low-, lower-middle- and upper-middle-income countries
Requirements:
Must submit an abstract to the 2026 Annual Meeting
Must apply for the travel grant via ProposalCentral
Must be an IARS member (discounted membership options available for members in LMICs and UMICs)
Benefits include:
